2026 Global Trends Analysis of LED Lighting and Display Products for Automotive Applications

According to TrendForce’s 2026 Global Automotive LED MarketLighting and Display Product Trends, due to uncertainties in the international situation, changes in trade policies, and cost pressures from raw material inflation, the profit margins of automotive lighting manufacturers have been continuously compressed and restricted. To address this challenge, automotive lighting manufacturers are not only committed to optimizing structural costs but also accelerating the transformation towards high-value digital lighting systems for Software-Defined Vehicles (SDVs) and Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). This aims to achieve customized dynamic lighting effects and enhance active safety driving functions. Software-Defined Vehicles are expected to drive the global automotive lighting and automotive LED market sizes to grow to 47.07 billion USD and 4.512 billion USD, respectively, by 2030.

Trends in the Automotive Lighting and Display Market

1. Headlights According to TrendForce analysis, vehicles equipped with adaptive headlights are projected to reach 22.8 million units by 2030, with an adaptive headlight penetration rate of 23.8%. In regional market development, Europe is the most proactive, expected to reach 30.9% by 2030, followed by China at 29.1%. Micro LED adaptive headlights, with advantages such as high resolution, high luminous efficacy, flexible illumination range, and pixel-independent control, offer active lighting safety features for driving, including trail light blankets, width assistance, road risk highlighting, and pedestrian yielding indicators. They may also integrate external weather conditions to enhance driving safety. Micro LED headlights have been officially adopted by Volkswagen, Porsche, SAIC Volkswagen, NIO, Opel, Audi, Zeekr, and Mercedes-Benz. TrendForce analysis indicates that automakers require an average of 20,000 pixels for Micro LED headlight products; higher-end models will adopt 70,000-100,000 pixels and are expected to launch between 2028-2030 to replace DLP headlight solutions.
